Circuit Court

Circuit Court Responsibilities

The Calumet County Circuit Court consists of two branches and is part of the state court system. It is the court’s purpose to hear and determine, within Calumet County, all civil and criminal actions and proceedings unless exclusive jurisdiction is given to another court.

Court Commissioner Responsibilities

The purpose of the Court Commissioners, appointed by the Circuit Judge, is to minimize court delays by handling certain cases as directed by the Judge. The Circuit Court Commissioners assist the judiciary by handling criminal, traffic, small claims, and other hearings. The Family Court Commissioner handles family court matters, including divorce, abuse injunctions, child support enforcement, and small claims cases.
