Program Information
Private citizens, businesses and institutions are required by state law to recycle electronics. Televisions and other electronics contain valuable materials like plastics, glass, scrap metal and many other materials that can be reused. Televisions contain harmful materials. If land-filled or incinerated, these chemicals can be released into groundwater, surface water, or the air where they pose a risk to human and environmental health.
Accepted Materials at No Fee
This is not an all-inclusive list; for more information about accepted materials, please email the Calumet County Hazardous Waste and Recycling Program or call at 920-849-1442.
All Freon containing devices do not need to have the Freon removed prior to the event. Our vendor will safely remove the Freon from your device back at their facility for no charge.

What to Expect at the Event
These events are put on by Calumet County with the help of the local municipalities, and our vendor, Norsec Computer Recyclers LLC. On the day of the event, bring all of your electronics or appliances to the event location, where there will be signs and cones directing traffic. As you wait in line, some of our volunteers will be checking to verify if you have acceptable materials, and to collect money for any of the items that have fees.
When you approach the unloading station, we will direct you where to stop your vehicle, and our volunteers will quickly unload your materials. The unloading process typically takes less than a minute, and we will give you the all clear when you may go on your way.
Volunteer
Running each of these events requires 10 to 15 volunteers that are willing to help unload vehicles. Volunteers are not required to, but may be asked to lift material upwards of 50 to 75 pounds. If you are unable to lift that much, we still have many jobs available for people unloading light-weight materials. If you would like to volunteer, or need volunteer hours, please email the Hazardous Waste and Recycling Program or by phone at 920-849-1493, ext. 2303.
