  1. Urban Food Garden Workshop

    May 15, 2021, 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM @ Ledge View Nature Center

Planting a vegetable garden is a great way to produce fresh, delicious and nutritious food. It also helps to connect your kids to where their food comes from. Gardening is great exercise, helps to relieve stress and connects you to the earth. Every year I plant an organic vegetable garden, I started by learning a few basic principles and through experimentation have grown my skills from there. You can do the same, it is not difficult and you don’t need a lot of space. This workshop will take you through the basics; garden bed construction, soil, compost, nourishing and caring for your plants, and weed management/pest control. Part of the workshop will be outdoors and hands on. If you’ve ever thought about growing your own vegetables but don’t really know where to start, this is the workshop for you!

The weather is warming up and the kids are ready to get outside and play! We would like to help your kids get creative with what they can do with outdoor materials. In this event, we will take a hike around the grounds and collect materials to make a nature-themed dream catcher. Our staff will then help the kids put together a dreamcatcher of their very own. All materials provided, and we do the clean up!
